Animal Studies 1

Tuesday, April 23, 2024 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Cost: $90

Rather than copying a photo, you will use various reference photos to “study” the animal and its forms to learn the importance of gestural lines in creating movement for your own composition of the subject. We will be drawing several studies of your chosen animal (paws, ears, and other body parts) to gain understanding of its anatomy and various poses. This class is about gaining knowledge of how to draw with confidence. You may have a strong or rough understanding to work from by the end of the session, but this class is mainly focused on building techniques of how to draw and study the beautiful fauna we share the world with. You will also be encouraged to explore how the animal moves through the world by reading a bit about it to understand its behaviours and environment, as these things can all aid in how you will draw your subject! Please feel free to bring your own reference material or your own tablet, but we will have iPads available to source imagery from. We will also have paper and drawing tools available. Feel free to bring your medium of choice and your own sketchbook! DATES & TIMES TUES Apr 23rd 5:30pm to 8:30pm YOUR TUTOR: Kailey Lang Kailey is primarily an illustrator, working mostly in watercolour and gouache. She sells locally at the Artists' Co-op and the Owen Sound Farmers' Market every weekend. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING Just yourself! ACCESSIBILITY Wheelchair accessible
